Happy First Birthday!

Our little boy just turned 1 last week! We cannot believe how fast this year has flown by. Mom made a banana cake with caramel and chocolate frosting. Boy, was that yummy!

Springtime fun

Springtime here in the NW is typically cold and rainy. This year is really no different. Mom and Dad can't wait for summer (and the end of cold/flu season)! We did catch a few random days of nicer weather though and took advantage of being able to go outside with Tristan!

Independence at last!

Well, our little boy decided he wanted to crawl after all. He loves his new found mobility and loves to explore. He gets into all sorts of trouble now, but it's so much fun! Feeding has gotten a bit more difficult too as Tristan really wants to 'do it himself'.

Trip to San Diego

We just spent a long weekend in SanDiego, CA. Traveling with Tristan was actually much easier than we anticipated. We had empty seats next to us on all flights, and he fell asleep in his own seat there and back. The weather down in SD wasn't as warm and sunny as we had hoped, but we had decent enough weather to go for a quick swim in the hotel pool and had a fantastic day at the zoo. We visited lots of family while we were down there, including Tristan's great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

9 months old and standing

Tristan just turned 9 months old yesterday! His new favorite thing to do is to bang on mom's metal bowls (not the plastic ones...they don't make enough noise!). He also loves to pull himself up to play with his musical table!

Two Teeth

Once again, it's been a while...a lot has happened since our last post! Tristan is growing up quickly, and is a very happy and healthy boy. He isn't crawling yet (forward, that is...) but sits well on his own and loves to pull himself up to standing position. Back in January, we had a few snow days where we got to stay home and play. Tristan loves the snow...that's not a surprise considering who his dad is. Tristan has also sprouted his first 2 teeth!

O' Christmas Tree

Each year we go in search of the perfect tree, and it seems like we always get one just slightly bigger than the one before. This year, we kind of went almost too far -- the trunk was too big for our stand, and the top barely clears our ceiling. But, we finally got it set up and decorated this week. Tristan loves to stare at the lights!

Bye-bye grandma & grandpa

Grandpa & Grandma Chen returned to their home in Wisconsin for the holidays after visiting us for 6 weeks. We sure appreciated the help with babysitting and making dinner for us! Can't wait until you come back again in January!

6 months old

Sorry it's been a while since our last update. We've been so busy since Grandma & Grandpa Chen left us to fend for ourselves here in Camas! Tristan has been changing so fast! He is sitting up on his own very well now and can hold objects in his hands. He has been eating 'solid' foods this past month, and so far we haven't discovered anything that he doesn't like to eat. His growth has slowed down at bit, but he is progressing well -- at his last appt, he measured at 20lbs, 28" long. Here are some pictures from his 6 month birthday.
